Itinerary – Peru & Amazon Adventure: Two Treasures – 10 Nights

Welcome to Lima, known as the City of Kings, founded by Francisco Pizarro in 1535. The capital of Peru and one of the most vibrant metropolises in South America, Lima preserves a unique architectural treasure in its historic center: Baroque churches, colonial convents, viceregal balconies, and old mansions, recognized as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
But Lima isn't just history: it's also the Gastronomic Capital of the Americas, famous for its world-class cuisine, where the fusion of Andean, European, African, and Asian flavors has given rise to one of the most acclaimed cuisines on the planet.
Upon arrival at Jorge Chávez International Airport, a host will greet you and escort you to your hotel, while you enjoy your first views of this coastal city that combines modernity, tradition, and an unparalleled Lima spirit.

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel to begin a tour of Colonial Lima. We will visit the Plaza Mayor or Plaza de Armas, where the city was founded in 1535. This historic space is surrounded by monuments such as the Lima Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace, the Government Palace, and the Municipal Palace, all examples of viceregal majesty.
We will continue to the Convent of San Francisco, built in the 17th century and famous for its impressive library of incunabula, cloisters decorated with 16th-century Sevillian tiles, and its enigmatic catacombs, which were the burial grounds of more than 25,000 people during colonial times.
The route continues through Modern Lima, passing through the districts of San Isidro, the city's financial center, and Miraflores, known for its seafront promenade with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and the Costa Verde. Here you will have the opportunity to appreciate the cliffs that make Lima one of the few capitals in the world with direct access to the sea.
In the afternoon, we will visit the famous Larco Museum, founded in 1926 by Rafael Larco Hoyle. Located in an 18th-century viceregal mansion built on top of a 7th-century pre-Columbian pyramid, the museum houses a unique collection spanning more than 3,000 years of pre-Columbian history. Its galleries display gold and silver pieces, Moche ceramics, and pre-Hispanic textiles. Among its most famous collections is the gallery of pre-Columbian erotic art, considered one of the most visited in all of Peru.

A short and spectacular flight over the snow-capped Andes takes us to Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire and colonial jewel of the Viceroyalty of Peru. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this city preserves living traces of its Inca and colonial past in its streets and houses. Upon arrival, a host will greet you and escort you to your hotel.
Pisac Market
The tour begins toward the Sacred Valley of the Incas, amidst fertile lands and majestic mountains. We will arrive at the picturesque colonial town of Pisac, famous for its colorful artisan market. Here, artisans from nearby communities offer alpaca textiles, jewelry, and traditional ceramics. This market, which maintains its ancestral essence, is an excellent opportunity to admire—and purchase—unique products from Andean culture.
Lunch at Wayra with a Peruvian Paso Horse Show
We continue to the Wayra restaurant, located within the prestigious Sol y Luna Hotel, where you will not only enjoy a gourmet lunch but also enjoy an unforgettable equestrian show. The Peruvian Paso Horse, declared a Cultural Heritage Site of Peru, is known for its elegant and harmonious gait. Its smooth, distinctive lateral gait has been recognized worldwide as one of the most comfortable among horse breeds. This equestrian tradition, accompanied by music and dance, connects visitors with one of the country's most emblematic cultural expressions.
Ollantaytambo Archaeological Complex
In the afternoon, we will visit Ollantaytambo, an impressive Inca archaeological complex that combines religious, agricultural, and military functions. Its gigantic terraces, temples, and walls formed both a strategic fortress and a ceremonial center. The modern town, known as the "Living Inca Village," preserves the original urban layout, with cobblestone streets, water channels, and customs inherited directly from the Incas. This is a unique experience: walking through Ollantaytambo is like stepping back in time.
Overnight stay in the Sacred Valley.

Today you will experience one of the most anticipated experiences of your trip. Early transfer to the station to board the Vistadome train, which crosses spectacular landscapes along the Urubamba River until reaching the town of Aguas Calientes. From there, a bus will take us to the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World and the ultimate symbol of Peru.
For centuries, the city remained hidden among vegetation-covered mountains until it was rediscovered in 1911 by explorer Hiram Bingham. Machu Picchu was a ceremonial, astronomical, and agricultural center, as well as the private retreat of Emperor Pachacútec. The citadel is divided into two sectors:
The agricultural sector, comprised of terraces that descend the mountainside.
The urban sector, featuring temples, plazas, and royal mausoleums carved with admirable architectural perfection.
A tour of this historic sanctuary is a spiritual and cultural experience, where every corner reveals the grandeur of the Inca civilization.
After the visit, return and spend the night in the Machu Picchu area.

This day is reserved for experiencing Machu Picchu at your own pace. You can choose to return to the sanctuary and leisurely explore its nooks and crannies, observe architectural details that went unnoticed the day before, or simply enjoy the mystical atmosphere that surrounds the citadel.
For those seeking a more challenging experience, there is the option of ascending Huayna Picchu, the pyramid-shaped mountain that rises behind the ruins. The cobbled path is demanding, but the reward is unique: an unparalleled panoramic view of Machu Picchu and the surrounding valleys. Another alternative is to walk to the Inca Bridge, an ancient secret entrance used for strategic purposes, or to the Intipunku or "Sun Gate," which was the main access to the citadel in Inca times. From there, the views of the sunrise over the ruins are dreamy.
In the afternoon, return by train and transfer to Cusco, where a host will meet you and take you to your hotel.

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your accommodation for the Cusco and Nearby Ruins Tour, one of the most comprehensive tours to understand the historical and cultural importance of this city.
The visit begins in the Plaza de Armas, the heart of the city since Inca times, surrounded by temples and colonial mansions. We will enter the imposing Cathedral, a masterpiece of viceregal art that houses paintings from the Cusco School. We will continue to Koricancha, or "Temple of the Sun," the most important religious site of the Inca Empire, whose perfectly assembled walls are still preserved as a testament to the greatness of this civilization.
Outside the city, we will visit the archaeological sites of:
• Sacsayhuamán, the imposing fortress with walls of enormous stone blocks carved with millimeter precision.
• Qenqo, a ceremonial center carved into rock, used for offering rituals.
• Puca Pucara, an ancient military post and strategic control point.
• Tambomachay, known as the Baths of the Inca, a sanctuary dedicated to water and fertility.
• At the end, return to your hotel in Cusco with the memory of having toured a city that combines Inca heritage with colonial legacy like few others.

After breakfast in Cusco, transfer to the airport for your flight to Iquitos, the largest city in the Peruvian Amazon and the starting point for discovering one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet.
Upon arrival at the Iquitos airport, you will be welcomed by our team and taken on a brief panoramic tour of the city, where you can appreciate the influence of the rubber plantation era on its architecture, such as the Portuguese-tiled mansions of the Iron House, designed by Gustave Eiffel.
Afterward, transfer to the Explorama dock, where you will begin your river cruise along the mighty Amazon River, considered the mightiest in the world and declared one of the Seven Natural Wonders. The boat ride will give you your first glimpses of the rainforest: riverside communities, large birds, and lush vegetation that marks the entrance to the rainforest.
Arrival at the Ceiba Tops lodge, located approximately 40 km downriver from Iquitos. Here you'll enjoy air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms with hot water, all surrounded by Amazonian nature. After check-in, you'll have time to settle in and rest, or explore the lodge's surroundings.
Dinner is included, and your first night's accommodation is in the middle of the Amazon rainforest, where you can enjoy the tranquility of the jungle or visit the "El Tucán" bar to learn more about local music.

Reception at the airport and transfer to the Explorama pier, from where we will begin our 40-km Amazon River cruise to reach the Ceiba Tops Lodge. This lodge combines modern comfort—air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms—with the unique experience of being surrounded by the Amazon rainforest.
In the afternoon, we will take an interpretive walk through a primary forest, home to ancient species such as the majestic ceiba tree, which gives its name to the lodge and can reach up to 70 meters in height. Here, guides will explain the importance of this ecosystem and its species.
At dusk, after dinner, you can choose to relax at the lodge or join a night hike to observe caimans, frogs, and nocturnal birds, experiencing the jungle from a different perspective.
Overnight at Ceiba Tops Lodge (L, D)

Very early in the morning, travelers can take a special birdwatching excursion. After breakfast, we will board a boat to sail in search of the two emblematic Amazonian dolphins: the gray and the famous pink dolphin, a species unique to the Amazon basin.
En route, we will visit a native Yagua community, where you will learn about their traditions, crafts, and ancestral hunting techniques with the blowgun, a tool they still use in their daily lives. This will also be an opportunity to purchase local handicrafts directly from the artisans.
In the afternoon, we will explore the riverside town of Indiana, one of the largest centers in the area, with a distinctly colonial style. If conditions permit, we will enjoy an unforgettable sunset over the Amazon, a natural spectacle of light and color.

Today we will experience one of the most spectacular experiences in the Amazon: the Hanging Bridge, a system of suspended walkways that extend for more than 500 meters between the treetops and reach heights of up to 35 meters above the ground. From there, we will gain a unique perspective of the rainforest and its biodiversity.
To get there, we will sail along the Amazon and the Napo River to the ExplorNapo Lodge, where we will have breakfast before beginning the hike. After the aerial tour among giant trees, we will continue to the ReNuPeRu Ethnobotanical Garden, where a local shaman will demonstrate the medicinal uses of more than 240 species of Amazonian plants.
In the afternoon, return to Ceiba Tops with time to rest and enjoy its facilities in the middle of the jungle.

Morning at leisure for one last short hike or boat excursion to further appreciate the natural beauty of the Amazon rainforest, or simply enjoy the lodge's amenities.
At noon, return by boat to Iquitos, from where you will board your return flight to Lima.
(The morning excursion will be subject to scheduled flight departure time.)
